Interior About SliderWhether they’re a highly polished part of the décor at your upscale restaurant, or an industrial space, your concrete floors will require a certain level of care and maintenance. Although they are known for their durability and strength, this doesn’t make them completely maintenance-free. Here are some tips for cleaning and caring for concrete flooring.

Concrete Pavers

Concrete pavers and decorative concrete tiles are ridged and patterned, so it’s easy for them to catch dirt and debris. These particles will get ground into the pavers, wearing at the surface and even staining them, so it’s best to sweep these areas on a frequent basis. If you have unsightly stains on your pavers, you might want to hire a pressure washer for the day. This is also a great way to get rid of any deeply embedded debris.  If the washer is not effective enough, add a degreaser to the water for more powerful cleaning action.

Polished Concrete

Polished concrete flooring is usually fairly easy to maintain, as the polishing process creates a very resilient, shiny surface which is difficult to stain or scratch. Regular dusting or mopping with a PH neutral floor cleaner will keep it hygienic and clean. There are also some cleaning products that will leave behind an additional dirt-resistant film on the floor, making cleaning and maintenance even easier.

Industrial Concrete Floors

Warehouse floors, parking lots and other high traffic areas will need a bit more attention in order to keep them in perfect condition. Regular sweeping and pressure washes will clear away debris that can easily be ground into the concrete floor (and damage the surface) by cars, trucks and forklifts. Cleaning crews should look out for small problems with the flooring, like cracks or wear, to ensure they can be fixed quickly and easily. In high-traffic areas like this, these small issues can easily become large, costly problems.
